A Passion for Wildfire and Forestry
NRTS was established in Fort St. John, BC in 2016 by Cole St. Jean and Lee Irvine after a collective 30 seasons with the British Columbia Wildfire Service. It was during their tenure there that they became professionals in the areas of Tree Falling and Wildfire Suppression. Having now returned to the BCWS in the role of a contractor, we specialize in Danger Tree Assessing/Falling, Danger Tree Specialist and Falling Coordinator roles.
By leveraging our extensive wildfire experience and insight, we introduced our fleet of Fire Suppression Trailer rentals to the Oil & Gas Industry in 2019.
In addition to our work on Wildfires, we offer complete Tree Service and Tree Falling solutions to Residential, Commercial and Oil & Gas customers in the North Peace Region.
As our Company and services offered continued to grow, we welcomed Taylor Galeazzi to our Management team in 2023.
Our involvement in the wildfire and falling business traces back to our tenure with the BC Wildfire Service in 2000, initially working on the Fort St John Rhinos. Beginning with tasks like setting up pump sites and hoselays, we eventually progressed to leading a crew of 20 personnel. Fort St John has remained our base, and we proudly serve as the contractor for the city. Presently, our services extend to the northern regions, encompassing falling, land clearing, fire suppression rentals, and overseeing a team of up to 30 fallers during the fire season.

Wood chipping vs conventional mulching method
NRTS has the largest tow behind chipper in North America allowing us to chip trees up to 24 inches in diameter.
Enhanced Efficiency:
Our chipper processes a 24 aspen in 20 seconds compared to the 10 minutes typically required by mulchers.
Fire Hazard Mitigation:
Chipping eliminates fire hazards associated with conventional mulching methods, ensuring a safer work environment.
Terrain Adaptability:
In rocky or steep terrain, where a mulcher will be smashing its teeth and creating a fire hazard or unable to access the area our fallers can fall the trees and cut the stumps low. The skid steer grabs the trees and feeds them into the chipper.
Working With Land Owners:
Wood chips can be either removed from the site entirely or relocated to meet specific project requirements, providing flexibility in debris management.
As a consultant you will no longer have to apologize to the landowner about mulching hidden fence lines, creating danger trees, or throwing boulders and woody debris off the project footprint.
At NRTS, we operate as a close-knit family. Our leaders form the bedrock of our organization, leveraging their extensive experience, particularly in wildfire management, to unite us in providing dependable and eco-friendly forestry and harvesting solutions to our valued partners.
We love our customers, so feel free to give us a shout.
